How God can use you!

Today's lesson focused on God's use of Esther to save the people of Israel from destruction. We were then asked to ponder the following questions:

  • How has God manipulated your circumstances for His glory?
  • When did God reverse your fortunes or that of your enemy?
  • How is God positioning and using you to accomplish His plans?
  • What special times do you have to pass on God's plan for your life to your children?

In the book of Esther, we saw how God's design caused Queen Vashti, the Persian Queen, to be deposed and Esther, a lowly Jewish orphan, to be crowned Queen in her stead. Her position enabled her to intercede when Haman later convinced King Xerxes to issue an edict calling for the destruction of all the Jews in the kingdom.

Not only were the Jewish people saved from destruction, but they eventually gained positions of power in the Persian kingdom. So God used the unlikely Esther to save His people, who had originally been sold into slavery and subjugation to the Persian Empire, and deliver them from their far more powerful enemies.

We were referred to I Corinthians 1:27 for the moral of the lesson:

27 But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong.
